The 5th Annual Field of Honorยฎ โ hosted by the Rotary Club of Georgetown and presented by SportClips Haircuts โ is set to amaze and touch the hearts of visitors over the week of November 6 โ 14.
There is no charge to visit the Field of Honorยฎ at San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, TX (behind the Recreation Center at the Activity Field on Chamber Way). It is open 24/7. The breathtaking field of 1,500 flags are lighted at night.
What Is There To Do?
- Walk among over 1,500 full size U.S. flags โ day or night. Get a birds eye view from the 16-foot observation deck!
- Visit the 360โ AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall and make rubbings of the names of those who are meaningful to you.
- Read about our flagโs history as you stroll down the 27 historic flags of the US.
- Pay your respects to the 13 American heroes that paid the ultimate price in the blast in Afghanistan.
- See the flags of all the branches of the military and the flags of our 1st responders.
- Visit the Information tent and learn about local and international Rotary Club service projects.
- Enjoy the many displays and exhibits in the EVENT TENT each day.
- Reserve your time online now to record your military or 1st responder story in the Legacy Station to preserve for your family history โ in a free 15-minute session.
- Write an uplifting letter, draw a picture, or make a card at the DEAR HERO station that will be received by a veteran or first responder.
- Attend the Marine Corps League Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony at 1:00 on Nov. 6
- Donโt miss the spectacular Opening Ceremonies on November 7. Static displays, an Expo, K9 demos, the Walk of Valor and Parade of Colors and the emotional Opening Ceremony will all be an unforgettable experience!
- Join us for the Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11 from 11:00 to noon, including a flyover by the Falcon Flight team.
- Watch the Quilt of Valor Ceremonies on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5:00 p.m. on 11/9 and 11/11.
- Experience the Flag Retirement Ceremonies each evening (weather permitting) beginning at 5:30 p.m. through 11/13.
What Else Do You Need To Know?
The flag sales tent will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. through 11/13, and from 9:00 a.m. to noon on 11/14. Purchase and dedicate flag(s) for your hero(es) โ only $40 each. They are yours to keep or have shipped anywhere in the contiguous 48 states for a nominal fee. Repost your flags at the field from prior years (must be in perfect condition) for $20 each. Buy your event tickets and this yearโs commemorative challenge coins, pins, and Field of Honorยฎ caps in the sales tent too. Concert tickets will be available in a separate pop-up tent on 11/6 and 11/7 at the field.
Note: Pick up the flags you purchased or reposted on 11/14 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or elect to have them shipped when you purchase your flags. They will be shipped within two weeks following the end of the Field of Honorยฎ. Flags not shipped or retrieved on 11/14 become the property of the Rotary Club of Georgetown and will be stored.
- Register now on the Field of Honorยฎ website โ or at the field at 8:00 a.m., Nov. 6 for the Nathan Chapman Honor Walk.
- Participate in the Photo Contest! There are many dramatic images to capture throughout the week. Entry fee is $20 per 2-photo submission.
- Tickets for the Philharmonic Patriotic Pops Concert on Nov 7 at 5:00 at the Klett Performing Arts Center are available on the website and at the Field of Honorยฎ event tent on 11/6 and 11/7.
