Georgetown’s holiday spirit was in full swing this past weekend at The Locker’s 2nd Annual Santa Crawl, a festive fundraising event that brought Santas, students, local businesses, and community together to support an incredible cause. This year, the event raised an impressive $48,000, with every dollar going toward The Locker’s mission of helping Georgetown, and surrounding areas, kids in need.
For those unfamiliar, The Locker, founded in 2008, is a local nonprofit with a unique approach to serving children and teens. By placing Lockers throughout Georgetown ISD schools, the organization provides essential items tailored to each child’s specific needs. Their focus on meaningful, personalized giving ensures that the support they provide makes a real difference in the lives of the students they serve.
In addition to the Lockers, The Locker has partnered with local school nurses to create “Aunt Flo’s Carts” in all Georgetown ISD schools. These carts, stocked with feminine hygiene products, are conveniently located in nurse’s office restrooms. This thoughtful program ensures that students have access to necessary feminine products, further demonstrating The Locker’s commitment to meeting specific, practical needs for local youth.
Building on last year’s success, this year’s Santa Crawl added a special twist: family-friendly activities on the Square. Inspired by the many families who came out during the first crawl, The Locker worked with students from Jarrell , Hendrickson, Georgetown High School, and Eastview High School to offer free, donation-based fun. Families enjoyed face painting, photos with Santa, “Who Hair” styling, and much more—all while soaking in the festive holiday atmosphere.
The highlight of the evening was, of course, the 350 Santas who crawled their way through downtown, sampling complimentary holiday beverages and discounts from local businesses. The Locker even awarded prizes for standout efforts:
