12/27/19 Update – We went by the location of the River Place Development and found some progress in the form of a really nice sign. You’ll remember that this project is located on Austin Avenue across from El Monumento and next to the San Gabriel River.
Plans for Phase I of the development include a three story building with covered parking and office Space on the first floor, office space on the second floor and apartments on the third floor.
Construction is planned to start mid January and the expected completion date is third quarter of 2020. More info below.

9/1/18 – Developers Sam and Rebecca Pfister have big plans for the block located along South Austin Avenue, across from El Monumento Restaurant. Plans for Phase I of the development include a three story building with covered parking and office Space on the first floor, office space on the second floor and apartments on the third floor.
Plans were submitted to a receptive HARC on August 23rd, 2018 with some changes suggested. With the help of Fredericksburg-based Mustard Design Architects, the Pfisters have come up with a design reminiscent of a historic warehouse, with reclaimed brick and steel-framed arched windows.
The start of construction at 109 and 101 Second Street is slated for winter 2019.
The Pfister’s have some other developments in Georgetown including;
* The Courtyard, a 12-unit apartment complex, located at Third and Rock Streets.
* There are plans for 22 to 23 townhomes on Third Street between Forest and Rock streets.
* They built and own the building housing El Monumento Restaurant.
* They donated the land for the Palace Theatre’s Children’s Theatre and Education Center.
