Hello Georgetown: How did you get started with photography?
Rudy: I’ve been a shutterbug since my teen years, and photographed my first wedding for a co-worker in 1998. The word got around the workplace and I made pretty good chump change on the side. After I retired in 2008 from the State, I took the hobby into a full time business.
Hello Georgetown: What’s your favorite thing about photography?
Rudy: I’ve always loved drawing and painting, but as my photography interests grew, I realized that I can create beautiful provocative images with the camera. So I push myself to challenge my skill with each assignment. If I can bring a little joy with my photographs for my fans and clients then I am content.
Hello Georgetown: How long have you lived in Georgetown?
Rudy: We moved to Georgetown in 2000 from Austin. Much has changed.
Hello Georgetown: What are some of your favorite things about Georgetown?
Rudy: The charm of the city and the passion the residence have for their town is contagious and warms the heart. The people are what make the city a real joy for me, and that’s why I’m often found on the Square, meeting folks and visiting everyone on the Square, my friends, my extended family. Oh yea, then there’s all the good places to dine, and the wife likes shopping, and the amenities found here are plenty.
Hello Georgetown: Please share one of your big dreams with us?
Rudy: That’s a tough one, although, I did finally achieve the dream of owning my home free and clear. Next big dream, retire again, and volunteer full time with some of the organizations that help the homeless, hungry, special needs. And, it may be the camera that brings the awareness to the rest of us for these needs.
Rudy photographs for local publications including The Georgetown View, Community Impact, and Nside Texas MD Magazines, City of Georgetown, local businesses, and participates in gallery events with the local community. He received Bronze Award for BEST PHOTOGRAPHER in the Best of Georgetown 2013 and Silver Award for BEST PHOTOGRAPHER 2014, 2015, and 2016.
