Come on, let’s have some fun at the San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, Texas!
Meandering right through the heart of Georgetown are the North Fork and the South Fork of the San Gabriel River. Along the banks of the San Gabriel River where the two forks meet, between the river and Austin Avenue, you’ll find one of the most beautiful parks in the state of Texas.
This beautiful, shady park on the San Gabriel River offers all kinds of fun and relaxing activities. There’s something for everybody with playgrounds geared to toddlers and some for the older kids, a skateboard park, walking and jogging trails, huge shade trees for picnics and plenty of ducks to feed. And it’s ok to wade in the shallow water.
The San Gabriel Park is graced with 200-year-old oak trees that offer shady spots for family picnics. The 180-acre park also provides space for concerts and festivals, as well as fields for soccer and baseball. Also in the park find picnic tables, BBQ pits and several playgrounds.

Hike and Bike Trail
The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department takes care of nearly 9 miles of hike and bike trails along the North and South San Gabriel Rivers. There is a 1.6 mile granite trail that loops around San Gabriel Park.
On the North San Gabriel River, there is a one mile lighted concrete trail that goes from San Gabriel Park to Rivery Park. On the South San Gabriel River, the is a one mile lighted concrete trail that starts at Walden and College and goes to Blue Hole Park.
9 Hole Disc Golf Course
There is a beautiful 9-hole Disc Golf Course in San Gabriel Park that weaves through open areas as well as through 100 year old pecan trees. Parking is available near the course. Map of Disc Golf Course
Creative Playscape at San Gabriel Park
Your children will adore spending time at the Creative Playscape where there are swings, musical chimes, slides, monkey bars, and all kinds of things to climb on. There are different areas for children of different ages with slides and other attractions.
When the structure was reinvented the design team was able to incorporate the unique history of Georgetown in the new playground site. A key element in honoring the past was the history wall. To tell the story of the Georgetown area the designers created the history wall throughout the playground.
Representations on the History Wall
1. Custom Boulder and Tee Pee represent the pre-settlement period with Native American encampments along limestone cliffs on the San Gabriel River.
2. Triple slide water falls along San Gabriel River.
3. GFRC Cow, hay bales and wagon wheel represent the settlement period from the 1700’s to the 1850’s.
4. Train and Store front represent the industrial period in the community from the 1850’s to 1950’s.
5. Custom Tower represents the surge in growth in the community from the 1950’s to current
6. X-Scape structure represents the new millennium as Georgetown continues to grow and offers new opportunities for it citizens.
San Gabriel Park Community Center
The Georgetown Community Center is located within San Gabriel Park at 445 E. Morrow Street and may be rented for reunions, weddings, parties, meetings, etc.
The building has the capacity for 440 people. Facilities available are a kitchen, tables and chairs, restrooms, P.A. system, and barbecue pits. If renting the whole building there are approximately 60 tables and approximately 400 chairs available for use. The main hall is approximately 139′ x 50′; 6,950 sq. ft. One half of the building may also be rented for certain events.

Skate Park – Sk8 Park
The skate park is located in San Gabriel Park at 449 E. Morrow which is located behind the Georgetown Community Center. Hours of operation are 8am to 9pm daily. The park offers skaters ramps, grind boxes, rails, half pipes and quarter pipes. This is an unsupervised park. Learn more about the Georgetown Skate Park.
Reserve Park Areas For Your Private Parties
There are several pavilions that can be reserved for your private party, or get togethers. The rental areas include features such as large and small arbors, large and small BBQ pits, covered tables, covered arbor with tables, a flower garden and a gazebo.
