Ariana Degollado’s new year is off to a great start, thanks to a new daughter. Emilia Degollado was due January 6 but made a surprise entrance on the first of the year.
“It was totally unexpected,” Ariana noted. “I never thought it was a possibility – I had thought in the back of my mind, a new year’s baby would be cool and nice. It’s really exciting. It started my new year off great.”
Emilia, born at 8:12 a.m. January 1, was the first baby born at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital this year. She’s been doing great, her mother said, and is getting accustomed to life at home.
“We’re just really excited and feel blessed that she’s here and everything’s good,” she said.
Her family has welcomed Emilia with open arms, especially her older sister, who is 10 and loves having a new sibling.
“She’s super excited,” Ariana said. “She’s always waiting for her to wake up so she can play with her and talk to her. She wants to be involved and change her and feed her. She’s a big help.”
