Sunflower Festival to Bloom at Sweet Eats Fruit Farm
BY CHARLOTTE KOVALCHUK, HelloGeorgetown.com Contributor
A field blanketed with golden sunflowers, split-rail fences and an old truck – it sounds like the perfect photo opportunity.
That’s what Jon Meredith, owner of Sweet Eats Fruit Farm, wants it to be for the community this summer when the farm hosts its first Sunflower Festival June 27-July 5 at 14400 E. State Highway 29. Festival goers can take pictures with dozens of beautiful flowers and enjoy the farm’s usual activities.

Jon Meredith, owner of Sweet Eats Fruit Farm, his wife Jonni and their kids, Emma, Henry (in green) and Cooper are excited about the farm’s Sunflower Festival in the summer.
Right now, the agritourism destination draws mostly parents and children to the family-friendly farm, which features a petting zoo, fruit picking, pony rides, obstacle course and jump pad. Jon hopes the festival will attract more folks in their 20s and 30s to celebrate a new experience together.
“The essence of a farm is about creating memories, and some say magical moments, time together for family and friends outside enjoying nature and having a good time,” he said.
You can also pick peaches as well as enjoy the farm’s other activities designed to entertain anyone from ages 1-100. Just don’t be surprised if you stumble across a wandering chicken or two – it’s all part of the farm experience.
Jon opened Sweet Eats in 2017 to give people that special experience, as well as a local fruit choice.
“People want to know where their food comes from,” he said. “I like good fruit, and most of the stuff you get in the grocery store is junk.”
This autumn, the farm will celebrate its Fall Festival with a corn maze, music, food and pumpkin patches. Jon also hopes to have a new general store and bakery up and running on the land in time for the event.
To add to the fun, Sweet Eats is teaming up with Texas’ favorite traveler, Chet Garner of The Daytripper, to host a meet-and-greet with the television star in October.
