New Radio Program, The Root Story, Launches on Hipp Radio Network
By Sydney Decker
When I first came to Georgetown, Texas on vacation with my family over 7 years ago, I – like so many people who visit – was immediately enthralled with the most beautiful town square in Texas.
Now, as a proud resident of Georgetown, I’ve been absolutely fascinated by this town’s history. As a former journalist, stories are my passion, my trade, if you will, and I’ve been drawn to our community’s stories. So, when the opportunity came to produce and host a radio show highlighting some of Georgetown’s history on Hipp Radio Network, I couldn’t say no.
For thousands of years, people across all different backgrounds have called Georgetown, Texas home. From early Native American tribes, to ranchers and farmers, to those of us living today. Each of us is linked by this city – and Georgetown’s story is our story. On The Root Story, produced by Root Story Studios, this history will come to life as we explore the lives and legacies of those who have lived and are living here.
The first episode of The Root Story is on the famous C.S. Belford, the man responsible for building many of our town’s most iconic homes and buildings. In future episodes, you’ll also hear the stories of people like Annie Purl, photographers N.M. Wilcox and R.J. Stone, Jesse Daniels Ames, and even some lesser known people whose stories are still just as important to share.
