October 14, 2017. Join us for an unforgettable evening at Georgetown’s elegant new 4-Star Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center! The 3-time Grammy nominated band Little Texas will be the featured entertainment along with our emcee Chet Garner, host of the popular television show The Day Tripper!!
The Georgetown Project and the Georgetown Palace Theatre have united to not only raise money for arts, education and even basic necessities like food and shelter for Georgetown and Williamson County children, but also to produce a memorable event to help ensure our kids have a solid foundation for success.
The two programs featured at the event will be:
• The NEST Empowerment Center run by The Georgetown Project is an after-school safe haven serving GISD high school students who are high at-risk or homeless.
The Center offers basic needs such as a hot meal, a quiet place for homework, rest, a place to take a shower or wash their clothes, computers, school supplies, daily homework help, professional counseling, job readiness training, and other support services.
The students have access to a food pantry, a clothing closet and all essential toiletries. The goal is to give them a safe environment where caring adults can help them achieve some stability in their lives and put them on a path to graduate high school with basic social skills needed for success.
• The Acting with Autism program for children at the Palace. This program has had truly amazing results with children who have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum.
The program addresses each child and their individual needs and works together as a cast to bring out their unique talents in a supported environment where they can succeed beyond the boundaries of perceived expectation.
Social skills are improved, anxiety is lessened and the parents and students all walk away feeling their special person was given a chance to shine.
