The Cityβs Environmental Services team will host a recycling event from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 12 at the Georgetown Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Ave.
No registration required, and the event is free with a donation to Georgetown Police Departmentβs Victim Services Unit.
Items collected at the event will be reused (furniture) or processed and recycled (other items listed below). Items accepted during the event include:
- Mattresses and box springs
- Furniture (Only items in good condition suitable for reuse. Broken furniture should be disposed of through a bulky waste pickup or dropped off at the Transfer Station.)
- Bags or small boxes of paper for shredding (limit three boxes or bags per person and only paper should be included)
- Tires (limit four per car)
- Electronics such as tablets, phones, televisions, and other electronic devices with a cord. All data will be destroyed before recycling components.
- Lawn equipment, including mowers, weed eaters, and edgers. Only metal items will be accepted. All gas and oil must be removed from equipment prior to disposal.
- Metal household appliances, including washers, dryers, hot water heaters, stainless steel sinks.
- Used/unwanted crayons to be donated toΒ The Crayon Initiative
Unacceptable items include:
- Hazardous waste
- Medical or pharmaceutical waste
- Batteries
- Light bulbs
- Refrigerator
- Oxygen tanks
- Construction debris
To participate, please bring a donation forΒ Georgetown Police Department’s Victim Services Unit. Monetary donations will be accepted.
