On Saturday, March 18, Preservation Georgetown will host a special event called “Women Who Made Georgetown Better.”
“Who and what made Georgetown a better community over the years,” the organization wrote. “Women have always been powerful changemakers: Starting schools and teaching our young; starting hospitals and providing other ways to take care of the sick and the old; running businesses; and growing cultural vibrancy through art and music and theater. Meet some awesome Georgetown women from history at a presentation by Helen Cordes to celebrate Women’s History Month.”
The free event will take place at 10 AM at the Grace Heritage Center located at 817 S Main St in Georgetown, TX.
“Helen is a lifelong journalist and author,” the organization said. She has created a website, HiddenHerstories.com, that focuses on the contributions of Georgetown women and other often overlooked Georgetown community members. Helen has written often about issues surrounding women and girls, including two books that help girls realize their potential. She and her family have lived in Georgetown for 30 years.”
Refreshments will be available after the event as well as opportunities to visit with Helen. Learn more about Preservation Georgetown at https://www.preservationgeorgetown.org/.
