Happy Independence Day weekend! Over the next few days, our community will have all kinds of fun events and activities you can attend to celebrate!
In fact, our newsletter is full of 4th of July updates. From our Independence Day Guide, to the pool and splash pad schedule for this weekend, to info on how to avoid common scams seen this time of year – we have a little bit of everything.

Details on how you can listen are in the newsletter below.
Our community is also seeing plenty of new businesses popping up too. The latest updates on businesses coming soon and some that have recently opened are in this week’s newsletter.
In other news, the Georgetown City Council has officially raised the homestead exemption, and the Georgetown ISD Board has adopted a budget for 2021-22. Plus, the public has been invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award in the Library Sculpture Exhibit.

Hello Georgetown Launches New Weekly Podcast Series
The Poppy Podcast with Sydney Decker will feature the latest community news, business updates and events happening in Georgetown, Texas.
Each episode will be less than 15 minutes and will be released each Saturday morning.

GT Dumpsters Open in Georgetown!
“At GT Dumpster Rental we offer affordable Dumpster trailer rentals,” the company said. “We drop off the trailer to your location. You do not need a truck. Simply fill it up and we will haul it off. Trailers can be used for junk removal, remodels, demos, tree branches, and many other projects.”
Grand Living Coming to Georgetown!
This luxurious senior living community is located at 1330 W University Ave, near Academy, and is currently under construction. Officials tell us Grand Living should be open by early Fall of 2021.
UPDATE: Anchor Floors Open in Georgetown!
Located at 4405 Williams Drive, Suite 250, the company has told us that grand opening plans are in the works, but they are open and serving customers now.
Brunson Fence Company Open in Georgetown!
Owned and operated by Stephen Brunson, the company opened in January of 2021 and offers fencing services in Georgetown.
Sarge’s Wash N’ Detail Open in Georgetown!
Owned and operated by Christopher Reidinger, the business opened in the beginning of May and is a veteran-owned auto detailing service.
The Pit Stop Grooming Coming to Georgetown!
Owned and operated by Michelle Munoz, The Pit Stop Grooming will be located inside Tail Waggins Dog Bakery at 2102 N. Austin Avenue. Munoz has been a groomer for 12 years.
UPDATE: Aldi Coming to Georgetown!
“Our new Georgetown, Texas, store is on track to open later this summer. We look forward to serving Georgetown residents and providing them with the best grocery shopping experience. We will be sure to reach out with more details closer to the Grand Opening date, including Grand Opening activities and the store’s hours.”
The Garden at The Summit at Rivery Coming to Georgetown!
“The Garden at the Summit, coming this fall to The Summit at Rivery Park in Georgetown, Texas is a casual dining Italian restaurant serving food inspired by the Boston Italian neighborhood of the North End,” Novak Brothers told Hello Georgetown. “The Garden’s menu will include crab cakes, lobster rolls, pasta, crispy roman pizzas and much more.”
UPDATE: East View High School Student Named Top Teen Chef in the Nation
“It’s official! Clarie OShoney from East View High School was announced as the TOP Teen Chef in Culinary Arts tonight during a national presentation by the Future Career and Community Leaders Association (FCCLA),” Georgetown ISD wrote. “150 high school students advanced to the national competition, and we are incredibly proud of Claire’s accomplishments. Great things are happening in Georgetown ISD!”

The action took place at a special council meeting on Wednesday, June 29.
Georgetown Public Library Founder Anna Aiken Passes Away
“It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our dear friend and library founder, Anna Aiken,” the library wrote. “Anna was a driving force behind establishing the Library here in Georgetown.”
The Caring Place Adds Dressing Rooms to Store
“Since COVID began, we have closed our dressing rooms,” the organization said in a Facebook Live video. “In fact, our dressing room was in the restroom, so it wasn’t super ideal anyway, and so during that time we had some amazing volunteers that made us new dressing rooms, and we’re super excited about them.”
Public Comment Sought on Proposed City Charter Amendments
Georgetown City Council will host a public hearing July 13 during its regular meeting to get feedback on proposed amendments to the City’s charter.
Georgetown ISD Board Adopts 2021-22 Budget
The full budget adoption comes after approval of the compensation plan during last month’s board meeting and accounts for local, state and federal revenue of $139,658,878 or nearly $120,268,000 net of recapture to the state. Of that, 90% is allocated for staffing and benefits.

City Facilities to Close July 5 for Independence Day Observance
City offices and facilities will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Unless otherwise stated in the article, facilities and services will have their normal operating hours Friday and Saturday, July 2 and 3.
Public Invited to Cast Ballots for People’s Choice Award in Library Sculpture Exhibit
This year’s exhibit opened Sunday, June 20, and lasts through Friday, Sept. 17. The show includes a People’s Choice Award decided by library visitors, who cast votes for their favorite three pieces out of the 78 pieces in the show.
Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter Hosts Its 2nd Annual Name a Kit10 Fundraiser
The Kit10 Fundraiser allows interested participants the opportunity to save feline lives by allowing them to name a kitten or cat by donating $10.00 or more – and participants can donate and name as many felines as they wish.
