On the new business front, there’s several that have opened recently including a lice removal company, a fitness company and a local pet hospital is under new ownership! We have the latest details on all these businesses in this week’s newsletter.
While it may seem the beautiful summer days will last forever, back to school shopping is just around the corner. Georgetown ISD has announced that they’re offering a new online shopping option for parents this year. But, don’t worry – if you prefer to print out the list and shop in stores, that’s great! Lists for either school supply shopping style are available. Details are below.
In other news, the Georgetown Art Center has launched a virtual reality version of their latest exhibit and the Georgetown Recreation Center indoor pool is set to reopen on July 12.

Hello Georgetown Launches New Weekly Podcast Series
The Poppy Podcast with Sydney Decker will feature the latest community news, business updates and events happening in Georgetown, Texas.
Each episode will be less than 15 minutes and will be released each Saturday morning.

Aesthetix Academy Open in Georgetown!
Owner Mark Field has been in fitness and body building for over seven years. Now, he’s sharing his knowledge and skills with clients. Aesthetix Academy offers both in-person and online personal training options including personal fitness plans, nutrition plans and an apparel line.
Castlerock Pet Hospital Under New Ownership!
Dr. Donnie Hoff purchased the practice in June 2021 from Dr. Margaret Stummer who originally started Castlerock Pet Hospital in 2001. Hoff and his wife have been working at Castlerock in June 2020, and told Hello Georgetown they are excited to continue the traditions of the hospital established by Dr. Stummer.
Georgetown ISD Offering Online Shopping Option for School Supply Lists
Georgetown Independent School District has released their school supply lists for this upcoming school year and will be offering an online shopping option for parents.
Council Member Rachael Jonrowe Resigns
Georgetown District 6 Council Member Rachael Jonrowe has resigned from her seat effective July 6, 2021. She cited personal reasons for her decision when she announced her intention to resign in June.
Georgetown Recreation Center Indoor Pool to Reopen July 12
The indoor pool originally closed Monday, February 8 in order to replace the HVAC system and continued to remain closed to undergo further repairs.
City Begins Street Maintenance Projects This Summer
Street resurfacing projects, including a high-performance surface seal treatment and hot-in-place recycling, will be completed throughout the summer.
The work schedule can be affected by weather conditions, mechanical issues, and product availability.
Georgetown Library and Animal Shelter Teaming Up for Kitten Adoption Event
The Georgetown Animal Shelter will host a kitten adoption event from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 16 at the Georgetown Public Library, 402 W. Eighth St.
The shelter will bring kittens available for adoption to the library, where there will be opportunities to meet, pet, and, hopefully, adopt some kittens.
Texas Extension Education Association to Host “Sew Simple – Let’s Make a Pillowcase!” Workshop
“Join us on Friday, July 16 from 2-5 pm and learn to sew your own pillowcase,” the organization said. “For $25, all materials will be provided, including sewing machines, on which you will learn to create your lovely pillowcase. The class is limited to 12 people, aged 12 and up.”
Georgetown Art Center Offers Visitors a Virtual Reality Version of Latest Exhibit
In addition to seeing “Social Justice” by artist Richard Laurent in person, the virtual reality experience allows visitors to experience the exhibit wherever they’re at and on any device.
Williamson County Tax Office Closure Schedule for July
The Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector’s offices will be closed for staff training from July 13 to July 15, on a rotating schedule. While one office is closed, the other locations will be open during regular business hours.
Georgetown ISD Announces the Hiring of Two New Elementary Principals
The Georgetown Independent School District named the following campus leaders for James Mitchell Elementary School and Annie Purl Elementary School during a special board meeting on Tuesday, June 29:
- Hollee Braun, principal, Mitchell Elementary School
- Mindy Choate, principal, Purl Elementary School
