In this edition of the newsletter, we have lots of great information for you. For starters, The Playful Child, a local nonprofit, is hosting two birthday giveaways! See how you can participate, and why the organization is doing these special giveaways – they have an inspiring mission you’ll want to learn about.
We also have new members of our Ethical Business Directory! MicroArtistry is a new permanent makeup studio in town you’ll want to learn more about, and Nove Punti Design is ready to take care of all your interior design and DIY needs! We have a new business open in town, BuckWild Designs, and the City of Georgetown is going to be holding another household hazardous waste collection event next month. Plus, you’ll definitely want to check out our story about a local artist’s Georgetown focused collection that’s currently on display at the library.

💡 Nonprofit Spotlight: The Playful Child to Host Birthday Giveaway and Fundraiser
Local nonprofit The Playful Child is hosting a birthday giveaway and fundraiser on April 21.
The events are in honor of the 6th birthday of Kade Damian, the inspiration behind The Playful Child and their mission, who passed away at three years old.

City to Host Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event May 12
The event will be available for up to 300 Georgetown solid waste customers who have solid waste service through Texas Disposal Systems. Customers must contact Customer Care at 512-930-3640 or customercare@georgetown.org to have their name placed on a list. Please include your name, address, and utility account number when emailing customer care. Customers must have their name on the list to participate.
GISD Announces 2021 Graduation Dates and Parade
“We are excited to announce that graduation this year will be held at Birkelbach field for the second year in a row,” according to an update from GISD. “GISD will also celebrate the class of 2021 with a community parade.”
Local Artist’s Georgetown Focused Collection Goes on Display at Library
Originally, Hancock would display new paintings in the collection on social media as she finished them, and now the full collection is on display through June 13 at the Georgetown Public Library’s first floor Cafe Gallery.
Hunt for Treasures at Downtown Spring Fling April 24
Participants can search for hidden treasures throughout downtown while shopping and dining at downtown businesses with spring specials.
No More Waiting: Vaccine Providers Move to Direct Scheduling as County Closes Waitlist
Williamson County will no longer be accepting names on its COVID-19 vaccine waitlist starting Friday, April 16, at 5 p.m. The County will send the names of people remaining on its waitlist to their mass vaccine provider Curative to schedule their vaccination through early next week. After that, residents wishing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine will schedule directly with the provider of their choice.
Wilco AgriLife Offering Free Raised Bed Gardening Classes
Now that the weather is getting nice again, it’s your chance to attend FREE classes given by the Master Gardeners and see their amazing Demonstration Gardens. Classes are held the 4th Saturday of every month from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Garden, located at 3151 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, 78626.
Williamson County Extends the Due Date to Apply for Small Business Grant
In an effort to encourage more businesses to apply for a Wilco Forward grant, the application deadline has been extended to April 30, 2021.
Williamson County Tax Office Closure Schedule for April
The Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector’s offices will be closed for staff training from April 20 to April 22, on a rotating schedule. While one office is closed, other office locations will be open during regular business hours.
Wolf Ranch Town Center to Host Health & Wellness Expo
Wolf Ranch Town Center will host a Health & Wellness Expo on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This free and educational event for the entire community will feature the latest in fitness, nutrition, mental health, and event wellness for dogs and cats.
