💡 Education Spotlight: What Parents of Younger Students Should Do About COVID-19 Learning Loss
Learning loss is very real problem that occurs over summer and other breaks when students are not in school, but a current concern among educators is COVID-19 learning loss. This affects both older students working at a higher level of rigor and younger K-3 students just beginning their academic journeys.
💡 Nonprofit Spotlight: Faith in Action Celebrates 20 Years of Service to Georgetown Seniors
On May 21, the organization will host an outdoor concert at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown, starring country music artist Cory Morrow. The event will feature food trucks, bars and a fireworks show will close out the festivities.

Gumbo’s showcases some of the greatest flavors to come out of any French-inspired Cajun kitchen. The full menu is innovative and diverse, offering quality food, generous portions, and value pricing. While we do serve Cajun recipes, we do stress to our customers that all of our food is served cooked to order, therefore, does not have to be Cajun spiced.

Starting Tuesday, May 4, Sweet Lemon Kitchen moved from counter service to table service.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day Taking Place at Wolf Ranch Town Center
The Georgetown Family YMCA, the Georgetown Project
Afterschool Alliance and Wolf Ranch Town Center are teaming up to host the YMCA’s annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, May 8 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The Caring Place Working to Be Fully Reopened by End of Summer
As part of their reopening efforts, the organization is planning additional surprises including redesigning and improving their existing food pantry and pricing space.
Georgetown Sertoma Club Donates Equipment to Tax Office to Help Hearing Impaired
The Portable InfoLoop System was presented to the Georgetown Tax Office by Jim Wilson and Karen Block, Speech & Hearing co-chairs for the Georgetown Sertoma Club. The Tax Office employees learned how to use the system during their April training day.
Georgetown Seeks Public Input on Hazard Mitigation Plan Draft
The plan, which is updated every five years, aims to minimize, or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards, such as droughts floods, tornadoes, wildfires, and other major disasters. Hazard mitigation efforts could include projects such as flood channel clearing, road and bridge design changes, property buy-outs, building code changes, or public alert systems.
