💡 Nonprofit Spotlight: Faith in Action to Host Event Honoring Veterans, Seniors
What would you ask a war hero if you had the chance?
Faith in Action is offering an opportunity for the community to do just that. On July 1, 2021, Faith in Action will host Portraits of Independence: A Celebration of Our Seniors at LampPost Coffee, 809 S. Main Street, Georgetown.
💡 Business Spotlight: Nove Punti Design Offering Course on DIY Interior Design
After spending months at home and amid a very hot real estate market, many people are ready to make some changes and freshen up their living spaces.
But, knowing where to start and how to tackle the projects on your “wish list,” may be overwhelming. Which is why Georgetown interior designer Eric Jensen is offering a brand new course sharing his knowledge and experience from his almost 30-year career to help you better understand the design process in your own projects.
⭐ New Business Directory Member: Handcrafts Unlimited
We are a non-profit, all volunteer retail craft and gift shop on the Historic Georgetown Square.
We are the oldest continuously operating store on the Square (established 1983). We sell handmade and handcrafted items locally made by artist and artisans who are over 50 years of age.
⭐ New Business Directory Member: 18 Carrot Bakery
Baked goods using organic ingredients. Old school baking with family recipes. Cakes, pies, cheesecakes sold by the slice. 48 hours notice to order whole cakes pies and cheesecakes. We also teach pasta classes and hold High Tea twice a month on Sundays.
Juneteenth Guide – 2021
History (via City of Georgetown): Juneteenth marks the day on June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers landed at Galveston and reported that the Civil War was over and slavery had ended. The Emancipation Proclamation freeing the slaves had been in effect since Jan. 1, 1863, but word did not reach Texas for more than two years. Juneteenth was declared an official state holiday in Texas in 1980.

UPDATE: Georgetown Sertoma Club to Provide Fireworks Show on July 4th
The Georgetown Sertoma Club will have a fireworks display at dusk Sunday, July 4, in San Gabriel Park for its 38th annual Family July 4 Celebration. The parade and other festivities normally included in the celebration have been canceled.
City Riverbank Cleanup Event Rescheduled to June 26
The City of Georgetown has rescheduled the riverbank cleanup event in San Gabriel Park to June 26. Volunteers can check-in for the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the white tent near the red poppy playground, which is located on the north end of the park. A safety briefing will be held at 8:55 a.m. The cleanup will be from 9-10 a.m.
Earliest Positive West Nile Mosquito Trap Sample Reported in Williamson County
The City of Georgetown and Williamson County are encouraging residents to be vigilant this summer after the county identified a West Nile positive mosquito trap in Granger earlier this month.
Assistant City Manager Reed Accepts Job as City Manager for City of Cibolo, Texas
Assistant City Manager Wayne Reed has accepted the position as the city manager for the City of Cibolo, Texas. His last day with the City of Georgetown will be June 25. Cibolo City Council approved his hire at its meeting June 8. His first day in Cibolo will be July 12.
Effective June 14, Georgetown Police Chief Wayne Nero will serve as interim assistant city manager in Georgetown while the City uses a search firm to fill the position.
WILCO Forward Funds Upcoming Deadline at The Caring Place
The Williamson County Wilco Forward Phase III grant program which provides rent and utility assistance to residents impacted by COVID-19 that are in need has an impending deadline. In The Caring Place’s effort to adequately process eligible applications before the deadline, the organization will stop accepting applications for assistance utilizing these funds specifically on Monday, June 21st.
Call for Arts and Culture Grant Proposals Now Open
The Georgetown Arts and Culture Board is now inviting grant proposals for events and programs occurring between October 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022, as part of the 2021 round two grant period. The deadline for submitting for this grant period is June 30, 2021.
