The weekend is almost here! Which means we are ever closer to Halloween, with lots of fun events in town between now and the 31st. The fun starts sooner than you think – we’ve got the latest in our Halloween guide if you’re looking for activities this spooky season.

With the weekend just about here, you’ll definitely want to make sure Comedy at the Clubhouse is on your calendar. Central Texas Mini Golf will be hosting the event on Saturday, October 16. The show is sure to have lots of laughs with local comedians! Seating it limited, so reserve your tickets today!
In other event news, Faith in Action Georgetown is gearing up for their Roaring ’20s Mini Golf Gala to celebrate their 20th year of serving the community! We have all the details on how you can attend, in the newsletter below!
Speaking of nonprofits, Seeds of Strength is inviting nonprofits to submit letters of intent as part of their 2021-2022 grant cycle. If you’d like to get involved with their organization or if you’re a nonprofit that would like to submit a letter of intent, check out their article in this week’s newsletter.
On the business front, JDog Junk Removal and Hauling is coming soon to Georgetown, and you can also look forward to the opening of Ascension Medical Group Seton Express Care at Wolf Ranch. Plus, Happy Trails Kennels and Grooming located on Williams Drive is under new ownership!
In other news, “Live Music at the Library” returns to the Georgetown Public Library Sunday, October 17, and this week we’re excited to announce the newest page on our website: Adopt a Pet in Georgetown, Texas. As the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter experiences a surge of animal intakes, we’ve launched a new page, made possible by Wolf Ranch Town Center, where you can see animals available for adoption at the shelter.
If adoption isn’t something you’re ready for or aren’t able to do right now, that’s okay! The shelter is also in need of people willing to foster. Learn all about it and other ways you can help in Adopt a Pet in Georgetown, Texas.

Adopt a Pet in Georgetown, Texas
Georgetown is home to many wonderful animal shelters! We’ve teamed up with Wolf Ranch Town Center to bring you a page where you can see all the animals available for adoption at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter located at 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, TX.
Also on the page, you’ll find helpful information about how you can adopt any of these animals, or help the shelter with fostering or reclaiming your lost pet.

⭐ Becoming Anchored (Part 2): Overcoming Brain Injury, Academic and Athletic Anxiety
At Anchored Wellness, each team member specializes in something unique. For Jennifer Bommer, MA, LPC-Associate, CBIS, it’s helping those who have suffered brain trauma and those who are currently struggling with athletic or academic anxiety, making her unique addition to the team at Anchored Wellness in Georgetown.
⭐ Education Spotlight: Setting Your Middle School Student on the Right High School Academic Track
Registering for classes in high school might sound simple, but choosing the right classes is essential. According to Ajith Varghese of the Georgetown Huntington Learning Center, strength of curriculum is an important consideration for students with college aspirations.
⭐ Don’t Tell Comedy to Host Show in Georgetown October 21
This next show will take place somewhere in Georgetown on Thursday, October 21. Attendees won’t know the exact address or the comedic lineup until the day of the show in classic Don’t Tell Comedy style.
⭐ Seeds of Strength Invites Nonprofits to Submit Letters of Intent for 2021-2022 Grant Cycle
Grant requests range from $10,000 to $25,000. Areas of interest include: Health and Well-Being, Family, Education and Financial Security, and Arts and Culture.
⭐ Roaring ’20s Mini Golf Gala to Celebrate Faith in Action’s 20 Years of Service
This final event will feature a mini golf tournament followed by dinner in an elegant tented outdoor area. Live jazz will accompany the evening that will also include raffle items such as a charcoal grill from ACE Hardware, a live Elvis impersonator and other fun items. There will also be silent auction items for attendees to bid on.

Southwestern University Announces Schedule for 2021 Homecoming
The public is invited to attend the celebration events! Some of the events scheduled as part of the festivities include the official inauguration of President Laura E. Skandera Trombley as the university’s 16th president, the 2021 Roy and Margaret Shilling Lecture featuring Dr. Ruth Simmons, the Homecoming picnic, reunion parties, the Southwestern vs. Howard Payne University Football Game and more!
Southwestern University President Trombley to be Inaugurated October 15
“Southwestern University achieved an important milestone last year with the selection of its 16th president,” Chair of the Board of Trustees Stephen G. Tipps said. “As the chair of the Southwestern Board of Trustees, it was my pleasure to announce that the board had hired Dr. Laura E. Skandera Trombley to assume Southwestern’s presidency, making her the first woman to serve in that capacity in our 181-year history.”
“Live Music at the Library” Returns to the Georgetown Public Library October 17
Live music will return with a performance by Austin Mayse, who is a singer songwriter with country, folks and Austin Soul influences, the library said.
