Christmas is almost here! How exciting! I don’t know about you, but I still have some Christmas shopping to do. The days are sure going fast!
We’ve been hard at work adding addresses to our Christmas Light Display guide, new businesses to our Christmas Dinners and Desserts guide, events to our Christmas calendar, and just this week, we released our New Year’s in Georgetown, Texas guide! You can find all of these guides in the newsletter below.
Speaking of Christmas shopping, we have the latest details on a special that Cryo at Wolf is offering during the month of December that would make a great gift for a family member or friend who’s been wanting to try cryotherapy! It’s a great deal for yourself too! Also, this week we have another installment in the Becoming Anchored series where we get to know the team at Anchored Wellness. You can learn more about both of these businesses and their services in this week’s newsletter.
In other news, GTX Relief has teamed up with The Monument Cafe to collect items for our friends in eastern Arkansas who are recovering and cleaning up after recent tornadoes. We have details on where you can drop off your donations and what items they are in need of specifically. Plus, we have an update about the future of the former McCoy Elementary site, and news about new open-access fiber-optic infrastructure coming to Georgetown!

Former McCoy Elementary Site to be Developed into Retail and Multi-Family Residential Property
Partners Capital—the investment management platform and development arm of Partners Real Estate Company, a top-four-largest privately-held and independently-owned commercial real estate firm in Texas—purchased the 12.7-acre site from the Georgetown Independent School District in mid-December 2021.
Ubiquity to Build Open-Access Fiber-Optic Infrastructure Across Georgetown
City Council approved a pole attachment agreement at its Dec. 14 meeting with communications network company Ubiquity which will pave the way for the construction of an open-access fiber-optic network throughout the city.
GTX Relief Teams Up with The Monument Cafe to Aid Tornado Victims in Eastern Arkansas
On December 17th from 2 PM to 6 PM, and December 18th from sunrise to 5 PM, GTX Relief will be receiving donations in The Monument Cafe parking lot.
“I have traveled through that part of the state extensively as I have family in northern Illinois,” Robert Pandya, Founder of GTX Relief, told Hello Georgetown. “It’s a beautiful place, with a very humble and generous population. While the devastation in Kentucky is undeniable, there are many people affected in the corner of our neighboring state who also need help.”
Holiday Closings for City Facilities and Services
City of Georgetown offices and facilities will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 27, in observance of the Christmas holiday. City offices also will be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, in observance of the New Year’s holiday.
Holiday Office Closures for Williamson County Offices
Williamson County offices will be closed for the Christmas holiday on December 23 and 24, 2021, as well as on December 31, 2021, for the New Year’s holiday. The Commissioners Court will not meet December 28, 2021.
Georgetown Encouraged to “Adopt Don’t Shop for Christmas”
Give the gift of love and companionship for Christmas by adopting a dog or cat from the Georgetown Animal Shelter. The shelter is overflowing with good dogs and cats looking for soft beds and full bellies.
City Holiday String Lights Recycling Available Through Jan. 31
Residents can drop off their old or broken string lights through Jan. 31 at one of three collection stations.
City to Host Household Hazardous Waste Event Jan. 19
The event will be available for up to 300 Georgetown solid waste customers who have solid waste service through Texas Disposal Systems. Customers must contact Customer Care at 512-930-3640 or customercare@georgetown.org to have their name placed on a list. Please include your name, address, and utility account number when emailing customer care. Customers must have their name on the list to participate.
