Another great week is in the books! As always, it’s so fun to see all that’s happening the Georgetown community.
First in this week’s newsletter, we have two upcoming events to tell you about. On Saturday, April 9th, The Learning Experience is hosting a craft vendor fair benefitting Make-A-Wish. The event will feature a variety of activities for all ages!
Keep your calendars are the ready, the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center will be hosting a culinary networking event on April 14th. Attendees can look forward to career opportunities, networking and appetizers! Learn more about both of these upcoming events below.
Also this week, let’s give a big hello to our newest Business Directory member: Spell Caster Ghost Tours. Their tours are part history and part hauntings with both family friendly and adult only tour experiences. You can read their full directory listing in this week’s newsletter.
In business news, Kona’s TX BBQ has moved to their permanent location at South Fork Fun, Food and Brew, and Joslin Medical Spa by Thompson Plastic Surgery is open in Georgetown! You can learn more about these businesses and their services below.
In other community news, the Georgetown Public Library’s WOW!mobile is turning 10 and the community is invited to celebrate on Friday, April 15th. Plus, the Red Poppy Festival is just a couple of weeks away and we have all the latest details from the City of Georgetown on how you can enjoy the weekend’s festivities.
Finally, Easter is almost here and we have been updating our guide with new events and specials from businesses. If you haven’t checked out our guide, be sure to see all that’s going on in the community for the upcoming holiday.

⭐ Event Spotlight: The Learning Experience at Lake Georgetown Hosting Craft Vendor Fair for Make-A-Wish
“For over 40 years, the Make-A-Wish has been granting life-changing wishes for children and families,” The Learning Experience at Lake Georgetown said. “A wish can be that spark that helps these children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. By partnering with Make-A-Wish we provide our students and families with the opportunity to learn about inspiring hope, granting wishes, and using their creative minds to fundraise throughout the month of April for children battling critical illness. Our dynamic doggy duo, Grace and Charity says it best…’It doesn’t matter how big or small you are, it’s the size of your heart that matters.’”
⭐ Event Spotlight: Sheraton Georgetown Hosting Culinary Networking Event April 14
The event be held at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel located at 1101 Woodlawn Avenue and will be from 2 PM to 4 PM. Attendees can look forward to career opportunities, appetizers and networking.

Kona’s TX BBQ Moves to Permanent Location in Georgetown!
“We are happy to announce, after 9 months of farmers markets, HOAs, and events we have found a full time location,” the company announced on Facebook. “Starting this Wednesday, [March 23] we will be serving our Texas style bbq at South Fork Fun, Food & Brew in Georgetown.”
Joslin Medical Spa Open in Georgetown!
“We provide a curated offering of services and products to holistically address concerns related to skin,” the company told Hello Georgetown. “We offer Diamond Glow facials, BBL phototherapy, Radiofrequency and traditional Microneedling, Botox, Dermal Fillers, laser facials, PRP injections, and four premiere skincare lines.”
Celebrate Red Poppy Festival in Downtown Georgetown on April 22-24
Celebrate the City’s signature event on the most beautiful town square in Texas at the 21st annual Red Poppy Festival. The festival kicks off on Friday night and runs through Sunday with three days of music, entertainment, family fun, and more than 100 artisan vendors.
Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department Hosting Adults with Disabilities Dance April 29
The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free dance for adults with disabilities from 7-9 p.m. April 29 at the Georgetown Community Center, 445 E. Morrow St. The theme of the dance is “Enchanted Forest.”
Williamson County Issues Burn Ban
The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a countywide burn ban for 90 days. County Judge Bill Gravell has the authority to lift the order banning outdoor burning if conditions improve. The order prohibits outdoor burning in all of the unincorporated areas of Williamson County and smoking in and/or on Williamson County parks, preserves and trails due to dry vegetation, wind and imminent threat of severe damage.
Celebrate the Georgetown Public Library’s WOW!mobile’s 10th Birthday
Georgetown residents are invited to celebrate the Georgetown Public Library WOW!mobile’s 10th birthday. The open-house celebration of the library’s bookmobile will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, April 15, in the library’s Ninth Street parking lot and patio. Refreshments will be provided.
Georgetown Animal Shelter Asks Community to Follow “Don’t KitNap” Protocol During Kitten Season
“Kitten season has begun, which means that we will see more and more babies brought into the shelter over the next few months,” the organization wrote on Facebook. “Please help the shelter by practicing the ‘Don’t KitNap’ protocol for kittens in our community!”
WCRAS is Seeking Homes for 19 Animals After Court Case Ruling, Thanks Community for Support
The shelter is hopeful that the community support will continue with the adoption of the 17 dogs from this case currently in the shelter. If the community helps to get them adopted quickly, then the shelter will clear out an entire adoption room. This would be an astounding accomplishment for a shelter that is currently over capacity with medium to large dogs.
“Ribbons on the Square” Kicks off National Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month
On Thursday, March 31 at 12:00 noon, the 2022 GoBlue Committee blanketed the lawn of the historic Williamson County Courthouse with blue ribbons and pinwheels, commemorating and kicking off April’s National Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month.
