Are you so excited for Red Poppy Festival? I am unbelievably excited for this year’s festivities. We have the latest for you, including details about this year’s POPP Pup Parade and info about a new headliner: Rodney Atkins! You can read all about these developments in this week’s newsletter.

Some other events to make sure are on your calendar include East View High School’s upcoming concert “Finale!” from April 29 to May 1. This annual performance includes all 150 choir members and will feature favorites from all kinds of music genres!
Speaking of music, Lark & Owl is going to be hosting a concert and book signing with Texas artist Sara Hickman to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day on April 29! Tickets information and other details can be found below.
In business news, we’ve got an update on The Human Bean coming to Georgetown and another new business called reKonnect Wellness. Plus, Rentsch Brewery has opened a second location called the Rentsch Brewery Outpost! They can be found on the Downtown Georgetown Square, read all about it below.
While you’re out celebrating Poppy Fest, there’s also another event happening this weekend throughout Texas, a sales tax holiday. This specific sales tax holiday is for emergency preparation supplies, we’ve got info on what purchases qualify in this week’s newsletter.

⭐ Event Spotlight: Lion/Dragon Dance Joins POPP Pup Parade at Georgetown’s Red Poppy Festival with Pet Costume Contest
This year’s Red Poppy Festival will be something to bark about! The City of Georgetown is excited to announce that the pet-friendly POPP Pup Parade will be make its way through Downtown Georgetown Sunday April 24th at 11am as part of the Red Poppy Festival lineup. A hybrid virtual/live pet costume contest will be included with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners.
⭐Event Spotlight: East View High School Choir to Present Annual Finale! Concert April 29 – May 1
“Join us for our final performance of the year,” according to the choir’s website. “Finale features all 150 choir students performing group numbers and solos to your favorite pop, musical theater, and jazz tunes! Tickets are $5, and the senior traditions will take place during the Sunday, May 1st performance.”
⭐ Event Spotlight: Lark and Owl Celebrating Independent Bookstore Day with Concert and Book Signing April 29
“We are so excited to bring Sara Hickman’s music to Georgetown,” Jane Estes, general manager & co-founder of Lark & Owl Booksellers, told Hello Georgetown. “She is a singer-songwriter who has been entertaining audiences for years. She served as an Official Texas State Musician from 2010-2011. I’ve seen her perform many times over the years and she is so engaging and delightful! She writes music for audience of all ages, but this concert will be adult-focused. The concert will be held inside our bookstore so it will be an intimate and special evening. People are certainly in for a treat.”

The new clinic plans to offer innovative ketamine treatments for patients suffering from acute depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, suicidal ideation, bipolar disorder and chronic pain.
Rentsch Brewery Outpost Open in Georgetown!
Matt Davis, General Manager of the tap room, said the location is a great opportunity for customers to stop in, grab a beer and then go support other businesses on the Square, like their next door neighbor Thundercloud Subs.
Celebrate Red Poppy Festival in Downtown Georgetown on April 22-24
Celebrate the City’s signature event on the most beautiful town square in Texas at the 21st annual Red Poppy Festival. The festival kicks off on Friday night and runs through Sunday with three days of music, entertainment, family fun, and more than 100 artisan vendors.
Rodney Atkins to Headline Red Poppy Festival
The City of Georgetown’s Red Poppy Festival has a new headliner this year. Country music artist Rodney Atkins will take the main stage at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23.
Saturday’s initial headliner, country music artist Jack Ingram, is unable to perform due to unforeseen circumstances.
Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Free in Texas April 23 – 25
“Natural disasters will continue to happen,” according to the Texas Comptroller website. “Prepare yourself during the 2022 Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday for emergencies that can cause physical damage like hurricanes, flash floods and wildfires. You can purchase certain emergency preparation supplies tax free during the sales tax holiday. There is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can purchase, and you do not need to give an exemption certificate to claim the exemption.”
Georgetown Leadership Program Hosting Fundraiser for Brookwood in Georgetown May 4
This fundraiser is aimed at helping the class reach their goal of raising $15,000, and Cummins said there’s plenty of ways to get involved in this upcoming event including sponsoring a hole, sponsoring a team, or coming as a spectator.
