Hello Georgetown!
Happy New Year! As 2021 comes to a close, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for a great year. I absolutely love being able to share the good things happening in Georgetown, and you all make it so easy to do! Snapshots of goodness are all around our community – whether it’s a new business opening up in town, the work done by so many of Georgetown’s amazing nonprofits, the small and large acts of kindness performed by individuals, families and friends, or any of the other wonderful things that have happened this year.
Thank you Georgetown, for who you are and what you make our community!
Personally, I am looking forward to 2022 and the fun things we have in store at Hello Georgetown. We are looking forward to continuing to grow and improve our Local Deals Club, we also are planning on bringing you new ways to access our content, and much more!
But, before we close out the year, we do have a few updates for you. This week, we’ve gone back and compiled some of the most popular stories on Hello Georgetown in 2021, as well as a new coming soon update for Amberlin Georgetown.
Also, as the Christmas season has passed, you may be busy putting away decorations, wondering where to recycle your holiday string lights, returning and exchanging gifts, and so on. We have helpful information for you about all of those things, plus our New Year’s guide!

Year In Review: Top Stories on Hello Georgetown in 2021
2021 is coming to a close and as the year wraps up, we’ve taken a look at the top stories for our readers this year on Hello Georgetown. Lots of things have happened this year, from new business openings, to fun festivals like POPPtoberfest and the Christmas Stroll, to touching stories of giving and generosity, and more!
Amberlin Georgetown Coming to Georgetown!
The new community, owned by Sparrow Living, will offer luxury-style living with daily activities, onsite fitness instructors and beautiful amenities.
BBB Tip: Holiday Returns and Exchanges
The weeks following the Christmas holiday are often busy for retailers exchanging or refunding holiday gifts. As consumers interact with businesses, it is important to consider a few key facts regarding product returns or exchanges.
Holiday Closings for City Facilities and Services
City of Georgetown offices and facilities will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 27, in observance of the Christmas holiday. City offices also will be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, in observance of the New Year’s holiday.
Holiday Office Closures for Williamson County Offices
Williamson County offices will be closed for the Christmas holiday on December 23 and 24, 2021, as well as on December 31, 2021, for the New Year’s holiday. The Commissioners Court will not meet December 28, 2021.
City Holiday String Lights Recycling Available Through Jan. 31
Residents can drop off their old or broken string lights through Jan. 31 at one of three collection stations.
City to Host Household Hazardous Waste Event Jan. 19
The event will be available for up to 300 Georgetown solid waste customers who have solid waste service through Texas Disposal Systems. Customers must contact Customer Care at 512-930-3640 or customercare@georgetown.org to have their name placed on a list. Please include your name, address, and utility account number when emailing customer care. Customers must have their name on the list to participate.

Georgetown is home to many wonderful animal shelters! We’ve teamed up with Wolf Ranch Town Center to bring you a page where you can see all the animals available for adoption at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter located at 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, TX.
