Can you believe we are just about done with January? 2022 is off to the races and it seems like this first month has just flown!
As the month comes to a close, lots has been going on in our Georgetown community. This weekend, East View High School Theater is presenting “A Chorus Line” and there’s still time to get your tickets! Learn more about the four show times and how you can attend this local production in the newsletter below.
While you’ve got your calendar out, also be sure to mark down the upcoming Wine, Women, Chocolate and Giving event by local nonprofit Seeds of Strength. This annual event is scheduled for February 10 and attendees will be able to meet and greet four of the 2021 Grant Award recipients.
Also, we’d like to say a big hello to our newest Business Directory member, Annette Montgomery, REALTOR® Wolf Real Estate! Annette has been in real estate since 2006 and specializes in local Georgetown residential real estate as a listing agent, or a sales agent. In business news, we’ve gotten word that Clean Slate Waxing Lounge is coming to Georgetown, and Texas Treats is under new ownership and will be rebranding! Also, we published an article this week about an amazing local nonprofit that’s helping families through free laundry services, check out the great work they are doing in this week’s newsletter.
Also this week, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce has named their 2021 award recipients, and the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department is accepting reservations for the Heritage Community Garden, and the Georgetown Police Department is warning residents to keep an eye out for phone scams.
With February just around the corner, the entry deadline for our 1st Annual Georgetown’s Most Eligible Bachelor and Bachelorette contest is coming up! We will be accepting entries until 11:59 PM on February 3rd, and then we will open voting up to the public starting Monday, February 7th at 6:00 AM. The winners will receive some great gift cards to Spa Luxe, who is making this contest possible! Learn more about the contest and enter in the newsletter below.

Local Nonprofit Uplifts Families through Free Laundry Services
Twice a month, Laundry Love Georgetown provides all the quarters and detergent so Georgetown’s low-income community can wash their clothes and bedding for free. There is no registration and no proof of need. Everybody is welcome.
Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Names 2021 Award Recipients
Several Georgetown residents and businesses received recognition at the event on January 20, 2022 which also commemorated 75 years for the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce.
Georgetown Parks and Rec Now Accepting Reservations for Heritage Community Garden
The renovated community garden features 25 in-ground garden beds, 48 raised beds, and eight ADA accessible beds, which will open March 1, 2022, for gardeners to begin planting flowers, vegetables, and fruits.
BBB Tip: Beware of Scams When Preparing for Winter Storms
Scammers are carrying out a series of cons focused on appealing toward the winter-wary consumer. In October 2021, one Texas resident reported to BBB Scam Tracker they encountered an online scam when attempting to purchase a solar generator advertised on Facebook to prepare for a possible repeat of February’s winter storm.
