I just wanted to drop in and say HELLO! Sydney has been busy keeping you informed and up to date with the latest happening in Georgetown. You will notice quite a bit of new and updated information regarding What’s Coming to Georgetown, new businesses, and much more!
We are very thankful for your readership and feedback on Hello Georgetown. A couple of months ago, we switched to a new platform for the website which is making things much easier to update to keep you informed, and a more professional look.
Within the next 60 days, we plan on launching our new Hello Georgetown apps for Android and iPhone. Also, as a reminder, be sure to check out Hello Georgetown Radio. Last month, we changed the format to play great hits. UPDATE: New Starbucks Open in Georgetown!
The new Starbucks in Georgetown is officially open!
Arbor Academy Coming to Georgetown!
The academy says their focus on Project Based Learning (PBL) means their students acquire content and skills in order to answer a driving question based on an authentic challenge, need, problem or concern.
Fairfield Inn and Suites Coming to Georgetown!
We’ve driven by the location that is under construction off University next to Goodwill. The signs nearby indicate the building will be a Fairfield Inn and Suites.
UPDATE: Georgetown Pediatrics Open in Georgetown!
They are accepting new patients and they will be holding a grand opening celebration on Saturday, June 26th from 9 AM – 12PM.
UPDATE: TXB Convenience Store Coming to Georgetown!
The new location is expected to open by early to mid July and it will be the first brick-and-mortar market opening following the company’s rebranding from Kwik Chek to Texas Born (TXB).
Georgetown Fitness Under New Management!
New owned Brennan Eggers told Hello Georgetown that Georgetown Fitness is offering the same quality of service and pricing, while expanding the offerings and personal amenities including personal lockers, showers, new trainers, a new scan-in system and new equipment.
August Beverage Company Coming to Georgetown!
The building is under construction at 1204 Williams Drive, next to One Love Tattoos. We don’t have very many details right now, but will have more information in the near future.
Summit Lofts Coming to Georgetown!
The new apartment complex is under construction and located next to the Sheraton and 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen and Bar.
UPDATE: City Post Oyster Bar and Market Open in Georgetown!
City Post’s Oyster Bar and Market is open 11 AM to 2 PM Tuesday through Friday.
UPDATE: Romeo’s Pizza Open in Georgetown!
The restaurant opened on Monday, June 21st and is now serving customers. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 10 PM, and Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 11 PM.
Georgetown City Council Working to Raise Homestead Exemption
The homestead exemption has not been changed since 1983, Councilman Kevin Pitts said in a Facebook Live.
City Pool and Splash Pad Schedule for Independence Day Weekend
The City of Georgetown has announced the pool and splash pad schedule for the weekend of Independence Day.
City Facilities to Close July 5 for Independence Day Observance
City offices and facilities will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Unless otherwise stated in the article, facilities and services will have their normal operating hours Friday and Saturday, July 2 and 3.
Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter to Host Second Weekend Whirl
Beginning Friday, June 25, WCRAS is hosting the second-annual “Weekend Whirl,” which allows prospective pet owners the opportunity to bring pets home for the weekend with the goal of permanent adoption.
City Hosting Free Healthy Yards Workshop on July 1
Topics in the workshop include composting, native plants, alternatives to pesticides and commercial fertilizers, reducing pests and weeds, and understanding beneficial insects. The workshop also will cover water use reduction techniques and City rebates from the Water Department. The workshop will present low-cost ways to maintain a healthy yard while reducing stormwater and watershed impacts.
Feedback Needed to Improve Watershed Protection
The City is seeking feedback from the community regarding general knowledge of the natural waterway systems and the programs the City of Georgetown provides to protect those systems. The results will be used to develop or improve education materials and programs residents can use to help protect water quality.
Eric Johnson Named Georgetown Public Works Director
Eric Johnson was selected to serve as the director of the City of Georgetown’s Public Works Department starting June 28.
Georgetown ISD Announces Campus Leadership Changes
The Georgetown Independent School District recently named new principals for two of its elementary school campuses. Carver Elementary School will be led by Tosha VanMetre and Meredith Gandy will take the helm at Ford Elementary School. Additionally, Purl Elementary School principal Denisse Baldwin will transition to a new role as Coordinator of Early Childhood/Title I with the district.
AGE of Central Texas and Area Agency on Aging Host 20th Anniversary of Free “Striking a Balance” Caregiver Conference
The annual event provides unpaid caregivers with relevant information and vital resources to help to ease the challenges of caring for an aging family member. Participants will discover local resources, acquire skills to better manage their caregiving situation, and connect with national and local experts on aging.
