Hello Georgetown!
It’s been quite an eventful week! As our neighbors in other cities begin to cleanup from recent tornados, Williamson County is asking communities to hold off taking regular yard debris and trash to the county landfill to give residents with debris from the tornado priority on Saturday, March 26. If you are interested in helping those impacted by this week’s storms, you can get details in our update below.
In business news, Cookie Co. is officially open in Georgetown, as is Lumino Vision! Both of these businesses are located off Rivery Blvd., you can learn more about each of their services/products in this week’s newsletter.
The Caring Place has announced the Free Choice Model will be returning to their Food Pantry on April 4th, and we have a great story about the Georgetown Beard Club’s recent recognition by the City of Georgetown and the Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown.
Also, this week, I’d like to offer my prayers and condolences to the Garey family after beloved community member and philanthropist Jack Garey passed away. Hello Georgetown expresses our condolences to the Garey family and offers our sincere gratitude to everything Jack Garey has done for our community. His is truly a legacy that has and will continue to impact generations.

Georgetown Beard Club Serves Community with “Style and a Smile”
Whether it’s sporting festive outfits complete with tinsel and bells in their beards at the Christmas Stroll, cleaning up the Square every week (sometimes in fabulous unicorn costumes) or holding a drive-by parade for seniors citizens for the 4th of July, the Georgetown Beard Club is ever present in the community and always ready to serve.
Community Invited to Celebrate Earth Day with Events in Georgetown
The City of Georgetown is celebrating Earth Day this April with events focused on nature and recycling.

“Come on out and give us a try,” Beverly Querin, owner of the Georgetown location, told Hello Georgetown. “I think you’ll really enjoy our cookies. We have great staff and we can’t wait to serve you!”
Lumino Vision Open in Georgetown!
Owned and operated by long-term Georgetown residents and couple Dr. Jennifer Wood and Gonzalo Banuelos, the business is located at 1500 Rivery Blvd. Suite 2005 in Georgetown, and is a full modality optometry practice with a specialization in low vision and low vision rehabilitation.
Georgetown Remembers Beloved Community Member and Philanthropist Jack Garey
Georgetown organizations and individuals reacted on social media on Wednesday, March 23rd at the announcement, including Mayor Josh Schroeder who paid tribute to Garey’s legacy in Georgetown saying, “Mr. Garey is Georgetown.”
St. David’s Educates Junior Leadership Georgetown
As part of their visit, the hospital said, students suited up in the OR, and received hands-on practice with one of the hospital’s Da Vinci surgical robots. The students also learned CPR from the Georgetown Fire Department and spoke with the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jim Donovan.
Free Choice Model to Return to The Caring Place Food Pantry April 4
Food Programs and Facilities Director David Earl shares, “We are excited to get back to a free choice model in our Food Pantry. This means our neighbors can select items they know their families will enjoy. If you find money tight right now due to increased gas or grocery costs, then we encourage you to visit us. That’s what The Caring Place Food Pantry is here for. ”
WilCo Landfill to Give Priority to Residents with Tornado Debris on Saturday
Saturday, March 26, there will be a large clean-up effort for those whose homes were damaged by the March 21 tornadoes. One way the community can help is to hold off taking regular yard debris and trash to the Williamson County landfill and give residents with debris from the tornado priority on Saturday.
Sun City Pet Club Donates to Wilco Animal Shelter Following Arrival of 41 Animals from Single Location
The Pet Club has initially donated almost 900 lbs. of dry dog food, plus other requested supplies such as dog beds, towels, sheets, and animal crates.
