Speaking of local business, featured in our Business Spotlight this week, we’ve got some excellent businesses that are focused on helping you feel your best! Also, in our newest article series, Becoming Anchored, we’re getting to know the team and mission at Anchored Wellness. This week, we’re discovering the story behind how Anchored Wellness started and what you can expect when you visit.
You’ll also see featured in our Nonprofit Spotlight the upcoming “Share the Strength” Fall event hosted by Seeds of Strength! The public is invited to join Seeds of Strength on October 21 to celebrate its success with current grantees and the beginning of the 2021-2022 grant cycle. In other news, thanks to the generous donation of local philanthropist Jack Garey, Georgetown-based nonprofit Living Grace Canine Ranch is set to open up a new part of their senior dog ranch on October 15. Plus, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is in need of the public’s help fostering and adopting animals after they took in 150 animals in seven days. We have more details below.
Also happening in the community, Southwestern University is gearing up for their 2021 Homecoming celebration and the inauguration of President Laura Trombley, and the university has announced their schedule for their Homecoming events!

President Trombley joined the campus in July 2020 and in her first year has already helped the university navigate exciting and at times, challenging times at the university.

Southwestern University Announces Schedule for 2021 Homecoming
The public is invited to attend the celebration events! Some of the events scheduled as part of the festivities include the official inauguration of President Laura E. Skandera Trombley as the university’s 16th president, the 2021 Roy and Margaret Shilling Lecture featuring Dr. Ruth Simmons, the Homecoming picnic, reunion parties, the Southwestern vs. Howard Payne University Football Game and more!
