These cooler morning and evenings have been so lovely, fall is definitely here!
Speaking of fall, our community has plenty of fun in store this weekend with POPPtober Fest! There will be live music, a car show, a pet parade, a kid’s fun zone, and more than 75 arts and craft vendors! The festival kicks off on Friday, October 1st at 6 PM and runs through Sunday, October 3! Details about the event, including information on parking, events and more can be found in this week’s newsletter.
We’ve got lots of updates for you this week in new businesses and businesses that are coming soon! Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change, Kilwins and Yellow Jacket Drone Services are all open in Georgetown! Plus, Tejano Cookers BBQ has moved to a new location in Georgetown, and we’ve got a brand new update about the new Goodfolks restaurant and Bear’s Compounding Pharmacy, both coming on the Square! In other news, October 4 is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming November 2 election. Also, Georgetown residents have been invited to share their priorities for the Parks and Recreation Programs and services, and the City Council has adopted the FY2022 budget.

⭐ Habitat for Humanity to Host Fundraising Golf Tournament October 4
“Mark your calendars, get your teams of four ready, and join us on October 4, 2021 at the beautiful Cimarron Hills Golf & Country Club for a tournament benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County,” the organization said. “Proceeds from the tournament go towards building houses for Williamson County families in need of a place to call home.”
Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change Open in Georgetown!
The company told Hello Georgetown they offer oil changes, tire inspections and state inspections, and fluid top offs in between oil changes.
UPDATE: Kilwins Open in Georgetown!
Located at 120 W 8th Street on the Downtown Georgetown Square, the store will be open Sunday through Thursday from noon to 8 PM, and Friday through Saturday from noon to 10 PM.
Tejano Cookers BBQ Moving to New Location in Georgetown!
“Exciting news we want to announce we will be moving locations effective Wednesday, September 29th, 2021,” the company said. “We will be joining the Crossroads Food Park, located at 5750 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Tx 78633. So mark your calendars & set a reminder to come and enjoy the BBQ you have been enjoying so much already!!”
Yellow Jacket Drone Services Open in Georgetown!
Owned and operated by Cody Greiss, the business offers aerial videography, photography and aerial real estate services.
UPDATE: Goodfolks Coming to Georgetown!
We have an update for you on Goodfolks coming to Georgetown! Goodfolks will specialize in elevated comfort food and many menu items will include southern favorites, including “the crispiest fried chicken you’ve ever had,” Chef Justin Manzi told us.
Bear's Compounding Pharmacy Coming to Georgetown!
Owned and operated by Lorin and Jordan Martin, the business will be a cash-only pharmacy, meaning they will not process insurance, and as a result will be able to make >90% of generic medications affordable to all patients regardless of whether or not the patient has insurance.
POPPtoberFest in Downtown Georgetown Oct. 1-3
Celebrate the City of Georgetown’s POPPtoberFest event on the most beautiful town square in Texas. The festival, this year’s rescheduled Red Poppy Festival, kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, and runs through 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, with three days of music, entertainment, family fun, and more than 75 arts and craft vendors.
Last Day to Register to Vote Oct. 4
To register in-person, go to the Williamson County Elections office, Inner Loop Annex, 301 S.E. Inner Loop, Ste. 104, Georgetown, TX, 78626. The elections office will be open until 7 p.m. on Oct. 4.
Registration forms also can be mailed to the above address if they are postmarked by the Oct. 4 deadline.
Council Adopts FY2022 Budget that Focuses on Utilities, Transportation, Public Safety
Major themes of the proposed budget are investing in transportation and utility infrastructure, public safety, and customer services, as well as providing the staffing, equipment, and software needed for record-setting growth and development.
Last Day for Fixed-Route Bus Service in Georgetown is Sept. 30, 2021
The fixed-route bus system currently serving Georgetown residents will have its final rides Sept. 30, 2021. City Council during its July 27 meeting directed staff to negotiate a paratransit agreement with Capital Metro, without any provision for fixed-route service. City Council on Sept. 14 approved an interlocal agreement to continue paratransit services only.
